1.Once you have watched it, write a short reflection on if you see yourself in this talk.
After watching this TED talk, I can definitely relate to what the speaker was saying about procrastination. When I get a large assignment, I tend to procrastinate it until about a week or two until it is due. I just can not seem to find the motivation to do it until I know that if I don't do it I will fail. I do not know why I do it, but I know I need to work on it. This will bite me in the butt if I do not fix it, because all of my assignments will be long term. I feel like sometimes I do better work when I am under pressure because I know I have to get it done.
2. He makes an interesting point at the end what is it?
The speaker says that everyone is somewhat of a procrastinator, and I agree with him. Nobody gets a huge assignment and does nothing until they get it done, but some are worse than others. It is important to start things early so that you can continuously improve.
3. How did the boxes strike you?
The boxes made me think more about my life and how much of it I have been through. Although I am still young, it seemed that I was through so many of the boxes, it made me think about how after college, my life will plateau.
4. Why would I think it is important for you to watch a rather funny video on procrastination?
Because although it is a very important thing to learn about, putting it in a funny way helps us to really listen to it and understand why we can not procrastinate in the future. It made me think about how much I really do [procrastinate, and how it needs to stop.
5. Show me, or tell me, what your procrastination looks like....one year, in graduate school, I addressed all my Christmas cards (in late August) instead of writing....then I wrote beautiful notes in each card the following month...that year I sent out over 100 cards...avoided writing until October-it wasn't pretty.
When writing my research paper for this class, I started it earlier than I needed to by accident, because I thought the rough draft was due earlier than it was, then I waited until the last minute to edit it and submit it.
Your life will not plateau after college....you will be busy trust me.
